Based in Cork, Irelands second city, Offbeat Records is a music distribution label with the most comprehensive eDistribution available to independent artists, comparable to that of the major labels, courtesy of their industry partner the IODA, the global leader in digital distribution. We operate very much as a fair-trade business and our guiding principle is that the principle recipients of money from sales of music should be the people who wrote and recorded it, rather than unnecesary company executives. For our standard distribution service there is no upfront fee to establish your sales infrastructure, revenue from retail is just subject to a 10% administration fee. This means the artist typically recieves approximately 45% of the retail value as the retailer (the shops who only deal with distributers), the distributer (IODA who oly deals with labels) and the taxman (VAT) all take a percentage. Payments are made to the artisit by cheque or direct debit as soon as sales revenue is generated.

What We Do

We help with protecting the recording, registering with MCPS and PPI, allocating ISRC codes (to digitally track airplay and download sales) and UPC Bar codes (for tracking all sales).

We can advise on copyright law - we have our own publishing division OFFBEAT PUBLISHING to register artists with IMRO, MCPS and RAAP.

We will upload the music to the worlds leading download servers - iTunes, eMusic, mp3.com, Napster etc. (complete list here)

If you go for CD duplication we can arrange online CD sales though your website, through our site, and through Amazon and CDBaby.

What We Won't Do

We won't bullshit you. If we don't think your music is good enough we'll say so and tell you why in straight language. We are all grown ups.

We won't pay for recording.

We won't rip you off. The music, publishing rights and mechanical royalty all belongs to you.

We won't tie you up. If you get a better offer you are free to go and distribute your new stuff with someone else. BUT...

We won't give up our existing catalog for nothing - there are overheads associated with removing music from our extensive distribution network.

Sounds to good to be true? Well it isn't, here we are and we're very glad to be at your service. If you are a recording artist and interested in taking advantage of our services, just email.
